How is microneedling performed? 

Before your procedure begins, the skin is cleaned, and a topical numbing cream is applied. The numbing cream is reapplied based on your perception of numbness. After the numbing cream is cleared and the skin re-cleaned, the process of applying micro needles to the skin to achieve micro channels begins. The treatment is tailored and customized to your skin goals, improving skin texture and tone. It is commonly used to improve pore size and skin elasticity,  treat areas of facial scar and hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, stretch marks and other skin conditions . The downtime and side effects are generally minimal, with redness and some minor swelling being the most reported side effects. This treatment is a minimally invasive treatment. It is not a plastic surgery procedure and not commonly performed by a plastic surgeon but often a service in a non-surgical aesthetic physician practice, cosmetic dermatology, plastic surgery, or medical spa.

How often should I get treatments? 

In order to achieve optimal results to the skin and body, microneedling sessions are generally applied every few weeks for a series of treatments, with many patients choosing to then receive ongoing treatments several times a year as maintenance.

What parts of the body are most common for microneedling? 

The most common areas of treatment for  are the face, neck, décolleté, chest, and hands. Microneedling is an excellent option and can treat areas of scars, stretch marks, such as the abdomen, buttocks, and breasts, also benefit. Nearly any area of the skin on the body can receive microneedling. A consultation with a medical provider will determine what skin issues you may have and how to reduce the appearance of scars or fine lines.

What happens following treatment?

Post treatment care, weeks after treatment is straightforward as the body’s natural healing process begins to take effect.  Continued healthy skin care protection with skin hydration, and lavish sunscreen use,  all of which  benefit the healing and collagen-building response. Avoiding sun exposure is recommended. You may experience redness after your treatment but eventually you will look and feel great.

What are the different combinations of microneedling treatments? 

There are many add-on options for a microneedling treatment. Options include treatment alone, with laser, and  rf (radiofrequency) . You can also combine the microneedling procedure with topical skin treatments such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or PRF (platelet-rich fibrin).  Your VERVE provider will develop a personalized treatment plan along with the number of sessions to optimize your collagen production and rejuvenate the skin. Laser microneedling, another form, combines the channeling of micro needles with laser energy heating, whereas radiofrequency microneedling combines it with heating from radiofrequency.
