What are Sagging Cheeks?
Sagging cheeks are seen with the lines that develop in the mid cheek area (malar area.)
How do Sagging Cheeks form?
Sagging cheeks develop as we age. The main cause of sagging cheeks is the loss of foundation under the skin in the midface, which can also be thought of as the “base of support.” The “Base of Support,” or under surface to the skin, is made up of muscle, fat, and bone. This Base of support serves as a major support mechanism for the entire face, and is slowly lost with time.
Is there anything in particular that causes them to appear?
Sagging cheeks result due to aging and loss of fat, muscle, and bone. Conditions such as weight loss, tooth loss, and muscular atrophy all add to the appearance of sagging cheeks.
How are Sagging Cheeks treated?
Sagging cheeks can be treated by re-supporting the base of the skin (Replace the Base™ method.) This is done by supplementing the area with cosmetic injectable fillers.
