What is lip plumping with fillers?
Lip plumping is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that uses injectable fillers to enhance the shape and volume of the lips. Most commonly, the fillers used are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body. At Verve, we use hyaluronic lip filler products like Juvederm, Restylane, and Versa to shape, contour, and hydrate the lips while maintaining a natural look.
What do you mean by ‘naturally occurring substance’?
Hyaluronic acid is already found throughout your body, in your skin, connective tissues, and even your eyes. Its main job is to retain moisture, which is why it works so well in lip enhancement filler treatments. It draws in water and holds it, making your lips look fuller and more hydrated.
How is a lip plumping procedure performed?
At Verve, we approach lip filler injections with precision and customization. After reviewing your goals, we use a fine needle or cannula to inject small amounts of filler into targeted areas of your top and bottom lips. Most hyaluronic lip filler products already contain lidocaine, a built-in numbing agent. In addition, we also use a high-frequency vibration device to reduce discomfort and help minimize swelling.
How much swelling should I expect?
Swelling varies from person to person, but in general, it’s very manageable. To reduce the risk of excessive swelling, we inject slowly and deliberately, using as few injection points as needed. Most patients feel comfortable returning to their normal routines within a day.
Is there any downtime after lip plumping?
Not really. You might notice some swelling or minor bruising immediately after your treatment, but most of our patients are back to regular social activities the same or next day.
How long does lip filler last?
Most lip enhancement filler results last between 6 to 12 months, depending on the product used, your metabolism, and how quickly your body breaks down the hyaluronic lip filler. Touch-ups are always an option and can help maintain the shape and volume over time.
