HOW CAN COSMETIC INJECTABLES HELP MY JAWLINE + MASSETER MUSCLE?

The jawline is a critical element of the overall facial architecture in both men and women which is often overlooked, but is becoming a popular treatment area in my practice. Adjustments to the jawline can make us look younger and even reduce headaches.

Here are four ways injectables such as Botox, Xeomin and fillers can help.

  • TIGHTENING THE JAWLINE: Fillers Such as Radiesse and Sculptra generally produce a tightening effect to the jawline which can lift the skin in the lower part of the face. If tightening alone is desired, then the fillers can be placed below the curvature of the jawline or mandible line, so there is no widening of the jawline.

  • CONTOURING THE JAWLINE: Fillers such as Radiesse and Sculptura can be placed above the curvature of the mandible to produce definition in this area. Depending on the ratios of the size of the chin, and the width of the cheekbones, this may produce a very dramatic aesthetic element to the face.

  • SLIMMING THE JAWLINE: Neuromodulators including Botox, Xeomin, Dysport and the newly released Daxxify can slim the jawline by reducing muscular tension in the masseter muscle (need an explanation of the muscle in the video Dr. Bracci points to it). This may be particularly beneficial to people who have increased size of their jawline from teeth grinding, or even those with a naturally wide jawline.

  • REDUCE HEADACHES FROM TMJ WITH NEUROMODULATORS: People who grind their teeth may develop tension headaches from pain in the temporomandibular joint. Neuromodulators can treat these headaches by reducing the tension on the masseter muscle, which in turn, reduces the pain in the temple mandibular joint.

The key to making changes to the jawline is finding a provider who has the experience, and a good aesthetic sense of the overall face.
