What Is Sculptra Aesthetic?

Sculptra Aesthetic is a biostimulatory injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that prompts your body to naturally reproduce lost collagen. Rather than temporarily masking surface wrinkles, Sculptra restores the foundational volume beneath the skin for results that develop gradually and last up to two years or more.

At VERVE Medical Cosmetics, Dr. Stephen Bracci approaches Sculptra through the lens of structural restoration. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience as a solo injector, Dr. Bracci uses Sculptra to rebuild the foundational support that naturally diminishes with age.

What Areas Can Sculptra Treat?

Sculptra in Manhattan is commonly used to treat:

It’s especially effective in areas where collagen loss and fat depletion have caused visible volume loss or sagging.

How Long Does Sculptra Last?

Results from Sculptra Aesthetic develop gradually, but they’re also longer-lasting than many traditional fillers. Most patients begin to see improvement after several weeks, with the full effects within 2 months, and with results that can last up to two years or more, depending on your body’s response and the number of sessions completed.

What Makes Sculptra Different from Other Fillers?

Most fillers work by physically replacing lost volume with gel-like substances. Sculptra Aesthetic works differently. It acts as a collagen-stimulating filler, triggering your body to rebuild its own support system over time. This approach offers more gradual, natural-looking results, especially for patients with generalized volume loss.

What Are the Advantages of Sculptra?

  • Gradual, natural-looking results
  • Long-term collagen support
  • Effective for larger areas of volume loss
  • Minimally invasive and well-tolerated
  • Non-hydrophilic—without water-retaining properties

Many patients prefer Sculptra Aesthetic because it doesn’t rely on overfilling or artificial shaping. Instead, it restores your face’s architecture from within.

How Much Does Sculptra Cost?

Sculptra Aesthetic cost varies based on your treatment goals, the number of vials used, and the number of sessions required. Most patients undergo a series of treatments spaced over several months to achieve the best results.

We will go over personalized pricing during your consultation. Most Manhattan and Paramus Sculptra treatments are priced by the vials at $1000 to $1500 each, with prices typically discounted for multiple vials.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

You may experience mild swelling or tenderness at the injection site, but there’s typically no significant downtime. Because results appear gradually, many patients find the experience to be discreet and the change more natural-looking. See our Sculptra before-and-after gallery for examples of how gradual collagen stimulation can lead to visible, long-term improvement.

Is Sculptra Safe?

Yes. Sculptra Aesthetic is FDA-approved and has been used in aesthetic medicine for over a decade. When administered by an experienced provider, it is considered a safe, effective treatment for facial volume restoration. This information was medically reviewed by board-certified physician Stephen P. Bracci, MD, on August 20, 2025.

Sculptra FAQs

Can I get Sculptra if I already have traditional fillers?

Yes. Sculptra blends beautifully with existing hyaluronic acid fillers. In fact, layering them is a fantastic strategy: traditional fillers provide immediate lift to specific areas like the lips or under-eyes, while Sculptra works in the background to improve overall skin thickness and volume across your cheeks and jawline.

How many vials of Sculptra do I typically need?

While everyone’s needs are different, most patients require a few vials to achieve full-face volume restoration. This is typically split across two or three separate sessions spaced about six weeks apart. This gradual, staged approach gives your skin plenty of time to build smooth, even collagen without overfilling any single area.

How soon after getting Sculptra can I exercise or wear makeup?

You should avoid strenuous workouts, hot tubs, saunas, and intense heat exposure for at least 24 to 48 hours post-treatment to minimize swelling and bruising. Makeup can typically be applied after 24 hours, provided the injection sites have closed.

Can Sculptra be safely reversed or dissolved if I change my mind?

Unlike standard gel fillers, Sculptra cannot be instantly dissolved. Because it works by triggering your body to grow its own natural collagen, the results develop progressively over time. This is why choosing an experienced provider like Dr. Bracci is so critical. Precise placement ensures your natural collagen builds evenly and beautifully from day one.
